It is an original plant of the humid prairies of the southern zone of the United States and Norte of Mexico. It belongs to the family of the Gencianáceas, its scientific name is Eustoma Grandiflorum, (also called Lisianthus Ruselliana and Eustoma Rusellianum). It is a plant of annual or biennial cycle, which forms a rosette of leaves, on which a 50 is developed stem of 40 or cms of length; in whose end they appear 9 the pediceladas flowers from 6 to cms of diameter and colors between blue and the purple long, in the wild varieties. The Lisianthus can be one of those species that complete the floral production in certain dates of the year, since its adaptation to the climatic conditions of our operations is good, and can be cultivated with no need of too expensive structures, taking advantage of already the existing ones. Its culture can be made so much for flower cut as for flowerpot plant. In Spain its culture is reduced, being extended at the present time in Japan.
