The Gladiolo is original, mainly of Europe, part of Asia and the South of Africa, existing species of very diverse origins within the area of
distribution of the sort. In Chile, also they have a level of importance in the national floricultura, since the case of gladiolo, is a culture of ample distribution, feasible of being practically produced in all the latitudes of the country.The culture of Gladiolos has been, between the cultures of flowers, one of most important at national level, mainly for the supplying of the national market, existing in addition, antecedents of floral twig export for some years back. These exports, nevertheless, have stopped had mainly to the excessive weight of the floral twig, which increases in price the costs of transports, being, therefore, more profitable the export of other species.
