It is a cultivated herbaceous plant mainly by his beautiful flowers for cut, the name of the sort comes from Klas von Alstroemeria who took the first seed from South America to Europe, also is well-known like Lily of the Incas, Peruvian Lily, or Lily Inca. In Chile we have more than 50 varieties, is a hybrid species, that in several of its ancestors has Chilean native sorts. This beautiful flower has a great variety of colors like red, pink, purple, lavanda, target, orange, yellow and two-color pencils. The plants of Alstroemeria consist of rizoma simpodial, fleshy, of several piston rods, from which the aerial buds and the fibrous roots are originated; these last ones get to be heavy roots of storage to aise developing the plants. The mature flowers have funnel form, with the ends of the tépalos doubled outwards, the leaves are whole, gray-green to green dark, almost always heavy, opaque to brilliants and generally glabras in both sides.
